Hammock is the duo of guitarists Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson. Ten years since their formation in Nashville, TN, the band has emerged as a leading light in modern music, with a unique sound that effortlessly melds elements of ambient, electronic, neoclassical and post-rock.
The cinematic quality of their music has translated into licensing credits with NBC, CBS, ABC, NFL, ESPN, CW, Warner Brothers Pictures, Showtime, Nike, national ad campaigns, public broadcasting networks BBC and NPR, and international stage productions and feature films. Their music has garnered praise from influential media such as Pitchfork, Noisey / VICE, The Wire, and BBC (who called their 2010 release "one of the most beautiful albums of the year"), and from fellow artists (and kindred spirits) Jonsi and Alex (Sigur Ros, Jonsi, Parachutes), who invited Hammock to give their first-ever live show at the overseas debut exhibition of their art project Riceboy Sleeps. The band's influential video "Breathturn", directed by David Altobelli, was featured on Coldplay's "Hypnofeed" and has received recognition from film festivals and award ceremonies across the globe.
Hammock has released seven LP's, two volumes of The Sleepover Series, several singles and benefit tracks ("For Nihon" for victims of the Hurricane and Tsunami in Japan, "...and darkness came" to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy, and "Disquiet" in 2017), and has created remixes for BT and Helios, among many others. Hammock released "Everything and Nothing" on April 1, 2016.
